HWAA Postseason Membership Meeting - June 4th
The annual postseason Membership meeting will be held on Saturday, June 4th, 2016 at Bellevue West High School. The meeting will begin at 9:30am. All units are welcome to have instructors and directors attend, as we will discuss the past winter season and discuss plans for the offseason and next winter.
Proposals for changes to the By-Laws or Circuit Manual may be submitted via the form available at the below link. All Proposal submissions are due by Tuesday, May 31st, 2016, and will be read and discussed at the postseason meeting.
HWAA at WGI Percussion World Championships
Three HWAA percussion units participated in the 2016 WGI Percussion World Championships in Dayton, Ohio April 14-16th. Bellevue West and Purecussion Music had great runs and reached the Finals in Scholastic Open and Independent A respectively. Bellevue West finishing 12th and Purecussion Music finishing 9th. Great job to both units!
DOJO Percussion also competed and had a nice show in the Independent Open Prelims.
BELLEVUE WEST VARSITY WINS SCHOLASTIC A WGI CHAMPIONSHIP
Dayton, OH - With a score of 98.710, Bellevue West H.S. Varsity finished as the 2016 Scholastic A Class World Champions at the WGI Color Guard World Championships on Saturday, April 9th. They finished at the top of the class out of 120 guards from across the country, and remained number 1 after each of the Prelims, Semi-Finals, and Finals performances. They received perfect scores from three judges in their Finals performance.
Congratulations to Julie Hadley, guard instructor, and Kyle Kaugen, band director, and the entire Belllevue West H.S. Varsity winter guard! Thank you for making HWAA proud!!
Shout out also to O.N.E. Independent and Railmen Winter Guard for making the Semi-Finals on Friday in the Independent A class. Great job to both guards! Also, Bellevue West H.S. JV and Omaha Burke H.S. made nice performances during the Prelims on Thursday. Congrats to all!

Bellevue West HS Percussion Receives WGI Promotion
Winter Guard International reviews the performances of all units that perform at their Regional contests. Recently, the Bellevue West High School percussion group received notification that they have been promoted from Scholastic A into Scholastic Open. They will be competing at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, OH in their new class. Congratulations from HWAA!
Three HWAA Units Compete at WGI Denver
Three HWAA units participated in the WGI Color Guard Regional held in Denver, CO, on March 12th: Bellevue East HS JV, Bellevue East HS Varsity, and Railmen Winter Guard. After the morning prelims, Railmen finished top of their class and moved into Finals. Both Bellevue East guards had great performances, but just missed out on making it into the evening competition.
In Finals, Railmen Winter Guard earned their second piece of hardware for the season, finishing with another 1st Place in the Independent A class! Congratulations to all three of our units!
Bellevue West HS Varsity Wins St. Louis WGI Color Guard Regional
Bellevue West HS Varsity traveled down to Saint Louis, MO, on March 5th for their second WGI Color Guard Regional competition. After a successful prelims run, they advanced to the evening Finals. At the end of the night, they ended up with another 1st Place trophy in the Scholastic A Class. Congratulations from HWAA!
HWAA at WGI Minneapolis Percussion Regional
HWAA had 2 member units participate in the WGI Percussion Regional on February 27th in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bellevue West HS and Columbus HS participated in the Scholastic Marching A class. Both had great performances in the morning prelims. Bellevue West made it into the evening Finals, and finished strong by taking home 2nd Place in Scholastic Marching A!
HWAA Picks Up 3 Class Champions at WGI Kansas City Guard Regional
HWAA had a great showing at the WGI Color Guard Regional in Kansas City, MO on Saturday, February 13th. A total of 8 guards from our circuit participated in the Prelims morning and afternoon performances: Bellevue East HS JV, Bellevue West Gold, Bellevue East HS Varsity, Bellevue West HS JV, Bellevue West HS Varsity, Omaha Burke HS, O.N.E. Independent, and Railmen Winter Guard.
Five of the units moved on to the evening Finals and brough hardware home to HWAA. Congratulations to the Scholastic Regional A Champions, Bellevue West HS Gold! Also having a great Finals performance was Bellevue East HS JV! Also coming out on top of the Scholastic A class was Bellevue West HS Varsity! Two of our Independent A groups finished strong, with Railmen Winter Guard ending as Champions, and O.N.E. Independent right behind in 2nd Place. Congratulations to all our units!!
